Cannelloni are a cylindrical type of pasta generally served baked with a filling and covered by a sauce in Italian cuisine. Today we share this substantial Italian dish baked in tomato sauce and cheese. Try this recipe at your home and impress your guests.

For the Pancakes
  • 1 tsp plain flour
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
For the Stuffing
  • 2 boiled potatoes
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 100 gm french beans
  • 100 gm carrots
  • 100 gm green peas
  • 4 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste

For the Sauce
  • 1 kg tomatoes
  • 5 cloves crushed garlic
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 4 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 50 gm cheese
  • 2 tbsp oil
Foe the Stuffing
  • Cut the French beans and carrots into small pieces. Boil them with the green peas.
  • Mash the potatoes coarsely.
  • Heat the oil throughly in a vessel, add the onion and fry for a little time.
  • Add the boiled vegetables, mashed potatoes, tomato ketchup, chilli powder and salt and cook for 2 minutes.
For the Sauce
  • Cut the tomatoes into big pieces, add 1/2 cup of water and cook.
  • When cooked take out a thick soup by putting through a sieve.
  • Heat the oil thoroughly in a vessel, add the crushed garlic and fry until it turns brown.
  • Add the tomato soup, sugar, chilli powder and salt and boil for 15 mins. Add the tomato ketchup and grated cheese.

For the Pancake
  • Mix the flour, oil and salt. Add water and prepare soft dough.
  • Keep the dough for 1 hour.
  • Roll out the dough into small thin rounds.
  • Boil plenty of water in a vessel and add 1 tbsp of oil to the boiling water.
  • Drop one round at a time into the boiling water, cook for 1/2 mins. and remove. Repeat for all rounds.
  • Fill each round with a tbsp of the stuffing and roll up.
  • Arrange on a greased baking dish, pour hot tomatoe sauce and sprinkle the cheese on top.
  • Bake in a hot oven at 200 degree Celsius for 10 mins. Serve hot.
