Green Chana or Hara Chana is rich in protein and high in flavor. Hara Chana is a good source of protein as well as carbohydrates. Hara Chana are rich in B-vitamins, which help our use carbohydrates, protein and fat from food. This recipe calls for fresh green chana. Hara Chana is tastier than kala chana or kabuli chana as it acquires a slightly sweet taste when cooked. It can be used to make various recipes like cheela, sweets etc. Hara Chana has a great combination with Paneer, which makes it delicious in taste.

Ingredients:

Preparation:
  • Clean, wash and drain green chana. Cut paneer into small pieces. Grind ginger and garlic into a paste.
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add cumin seeds. When they begin to change colour, add grated onion and saute till light brown. Add two tbsp of water to the ginger and garlic paste and mix.
  • Once the onion turns brown add this mixture and stir. Add grated tomatoes and saute for ten to fifteen minutes or till oil surface.
  • Add hare chane and one cup of water and bring it to a boil. Add salt, red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder and stir. Cover and let it cook on medium heat for ten to twelve minutes. 
  • Add coriander powder and mix. Add chopped coriander leaves, paneer pieces, garam masala powder and simmer for two minutes.
