Malpuas are Indian version of pancake and is an Indian sweet-lover’s delight. This is a mouthwatering classic Indian dessert made for festive occasions. It is also the morning food which is served to LordJagannath in his temple.

For Malpoa
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sooji / semolina
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp mouri / fennel seeds
  • Milk around to thickness
  • Chopped coconut
  • ½ cup grated khoya
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • White oil to fry
For Sugar Syrup
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 2-3 pods cardamom
  • 5-6 saffron strands

Preparation:
For Syrup
  • Take a saucepan and add all the ingredients under the heading of syrup and bring mixture to a boil. After boiling 5 mins off the oven and let the syrup cool to the room temperature.
For Malpoa
  • First mix all the dry ingredients (flour, sooji, khoya, sugar, mouri, baking powder & coconut) together in a bowl. Now add to make a batter not so thick not so thin.
  • Keep the mixture in a room temperature for about 15 mins. Then take a non-stick pan and heat oil and pour one big spoon at a time and fry the both side till golden brown.
  • Now soak each Malpoa into the sugar syrup at a time for 1-2 mins and take it out from syrup and place on a plate.
